I'm a teacher and just discovered that the source of joint tingling, stiffness, swelling and pain was probably caused by fifth's. I contracted it in Feb and am still dealing with some symptoms. INitially I took Vioxx to help with the pain and swelling and it did help. My knee is still stiff and has lost some range of motion.
