At the age of 26 my nephew woke up one morning totally blind in one eye. It was determined that a blood clot had stopped the cirulation to the optic nerve (similar to a mini-stroke), permanently damaging it. He's now 38 and doing fine. At first he had problems with depth perception and severe headaches. No problems now.
