I, too, had a herniated disc in my lower back last year. After having three steroid injections I had the nerve conduction test (myleogram). I had surgery in 11/02 (discectomy & laminectomy). The recovery took about three months but I am now back to normal. I am so glad I had it done. Just be sure you have a competent doctor.
