Be Informed. Steroids can cause a disease called Avascular Necrosis. I had 3 Epidural Steroid Injections at the L-4 and L-5 levels and I acquired AVN. Within 8 months I had to have my right hip replaced and within the next year I had to have my other hip replaced. Do not listen to doctors who say that you have to be on steroids for a long period to acquire AVN. Current research shows that one large dose can cause AVN. Look up Avascular Necrosis on the internet along with epidural steroid injections. Be informed and good luck.
