fibromyalgia/arthritis

My heart goes out to you. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 10 years ago following a diffult pregnancy and I share all of your symptoms. I go to a rheumatologist for trigger point injections when the symptoms are at their worst. I was pretty much bedridden until the doctors finally hit on my current medications etc. I take Trazodone 100mg & Flexaril nightly. Ibuphrophen 600mg up to a maximum of 2400mg a day works as well for me as all of the others for some relief. I do not take narcotics - to risky for a chronic illness. I always start my day with a warm shower even though the water hurts me and I follow it with a series of stretching exercises. Water therapy helps a lot but hurts a lot when you start it. Stress always makes it worse so I keep to a schedule as much as possible. I also have carpal tunnel in my wrists, arthritis in my neck and shoulders, and I suggest that you have your thyroid tested because many that I talk to with fibromyalgia also have an underactive thyroid as I do. Above all things, avoid anything that keeps you immobile for long periods of time. The key to living with fibromyalgia is making yourself do whatever you find helps you - and keep going. Don't isolate yourself. And keep searching until you find the right doctor and keep trying medications until you find what helps you the most. Prayer helps, too.
