My son was diagnosed with giardia eighteen months ago. He also had pnemonia at the same time. He lost a lot of weight and he is still suffering depression and panic attacks which he thinks are attributed to the illness. He is on anti depressants at the moment. He has pulled out of Police force where he was working as he feels this has contributed to depression. But I have heard on the TV another person with giardia who sufferes panic attacks now. Your doctor should be able to do tests for giardia and simple medication can be given. However, my son and I wonder if the medication for the giardia was the cause of the panic attacks. Susanne
