Dawn..Where are you 1st of all? Have you checked with hospitals like Johns Hopkins? Or Pittsburgh? I am in PA and I work for a hematology practice and we commonly refer to these hospitals. Have they tried Lovenox injections? It is an alternative to heparin, usually used along with Coumadin. If his blood is too thick, do they know why? Too much iron? Would large volume phlebotomies help (like 250-500cc each time) ? I am sorry about your husband, but I would be getting him to a hematology specialist ASAP if he were my husband. If needed, have him transported by ambulance, helicopter, whatever the cost. You definately need another opinion and another option. I will pray for you both.
