I wore this appliance and I also had braces but I was still bothered by TMJ. I went to a place that specializes in physical medicine and pain management. I was told it was coming from my neck. I was put into physical therapy and was given exercises to do at home. My TMJ doesn't bother me unless I don't do the exercises.
