Many women have fibrocystic breast disease, including myself. It doesn't make you a higher risk for breast cancer, it just makes it a little more difficult to do breast exams. It would be a very drastic move to have a mastectomy when there isn't even breast cancer in the family. In fact I don't think any doctor would even agree to do it under those circumstances.
