My husband has had bipolar disorder for most of his life; however, he hadn't been correctly diagnosed or prescribed the correct rx's until 1991. He has Bipolar II or rapidly cycling bipolar. This takes a good dr. to prescribe the correct meds. He has been doing wonderfully for years on lamictal, trazadone, and neurontin and buspar. Stay away from antidepressants such as Zoloft which can trigger a mania.
