My Mom had Interstital Cystitis and for 3 years she was on Elmiron and Elval. After about 2 1/2 years of taking this she started having bladder lock up and bowel problems. The doctor then put her on Citrucel for her bowel. Nothing was helping and she was suffering badly with bladder lock up where she could go only if she sat in a warm tub of water. Her internalist suggested that she quite taking all this medicine for her bladder to see what happens. This happen in Oct. 2001 and fortunately she has not had any problem with her cystitis or bowel. She is 74 years old. She changed urolgist in the mean time and he thinks she in remission and the Elirom finally did work and when she started bladder lock and bowel problems she needed to be off the medicine.
