Febrile Seizure

A Brown

Message 4 of 4 Previous

Hi, my daughter had her first Febrile Seizure the month she turned 1yrs. old. She was in the Hospital ICU for four days because of the fever along with phnomoia. She needed treatment to stop the seizures. A month later she had an ear infection, the fever came with it and she had a febrile seizure, so every month to every other month it would be an ear infection plus a febrile seizure. Sometimes with no systems. This went on till the age of 2yrs. old. Between 2-3yrs. old it was every two or three months. The doctor didn't want to put a hole in the ear to drain the ear. They said that febrile seizure are common and she will grow out of it; I don't believe this is common, and now that she is 5years old about to turn 6. Her learning is delayed and they say all the febrile seizures she had, had nothing to do with her slow delays. I say that someone is lying to cover-up. Now I'm working hard for my daughter to catch up with her peers; I had put her into a special pre-k education class. This school year she will be in k-5 but with 45 minutes of special one-on-one and speech only 20 minutes a week. I feel she needs alot more training. Good luck with your child, and I hope the febrile seizures don't go as long as it did for my daughter.
