No, there is no other medication that will relieve the miserable symptoms of PMR. Your Dr. is wise to try more testing in order to get a proper diagnosis. Most of us on Prednisone began alot higher mg's than 30. I have been diagnosed for 5 yrs now and still am on 10mgs. We are always trying to bring the dosage down, but ever so slowly. I haven't had many side effects other than weight gain and osteoporosis in my upper back. I am just grateful to be able to walk and drive without severe pain. Take care and hope you feel better. Donna
