Yes, it does cause osteoporosis if taken long enough. As far as thyroid lab tests are concerned, some people feel well when their lab scores are within the normal levels. But for some people they might feel better if their scores were in the high normals or above the normal range. I just got off synthroid. What your daughter is taking is almost the lowest dose and the results should kick in. Before the doctor increases the dose, he must wait until he knows that she is not getting side effects (such as palpitations). It is not a drug to play with especially in the higher doses. Getting a good, patient endocrinologist is very important. Hope this helps. Go on the internet. There are many sites that may be helpful. As an afterthought, maybe she needs more T3.
