Millie,,, you are absolutely right...diet will not in itself control gout...alluperinol isn't a cure though...It controls gout... If someone goes for several yrs without an attack...they wonderful...the drug works well like it is supposed to...and you are right...he can eat normally with this drug...BUT if at any time you go off the drug...your gout will eventually come back... Gout is a metabolic disease...
