Actually, they are both the same. Myofasical pain syndrome was the orginal name because it is a generic name meaning "we really don't know what it is, but you have a problem" It wasn't until the past 10 years when some doctors realize that is is Fibormylagia instead. I was diagnosed in 1989 with MFP and rediagnosed in 1996 with Fibro.
