Dr. Michael Pichichero, University of Rochester Med Ctr., New York - Elmwood Pediatric Group Has found that infection with group A Strep (tonsillopharyngitis) caused Tourette's and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder in children, and that when treated with penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotic, the psychiatric symptoms disappeared. He suggests that repeated Strep A can cause a brain damage leading to OCD or Tourette's. States need for immediate treatment for Strep A infections with antibiotics. You might explore this avenue, just to see if a trial of these antibiotics would help.
