Grace,It sounds like what I have been trying to exist with since I was 33, now I am 39. It sounds like trochanteric bursitis, it can be extremely painful when it goes on and on for years. You sound like you have a rough case too. I have had surgery, trigger point injections, all those medications like you are on don't touch it when it is severe. I am on oxycotin 80mg 3 times a day and still have pain, I use a tens unit, magnets, ice and a heating pad. I have tried the alternatives, glucosamine which broke me out for a month, malic acid, vitamin B6 and B12 and dmso creme. I am now paying for accupuncture, on my 5th treatment and there does seem to be a very small decrease in pain, I am on zanaflex a muscle relaxer and for the first time I have been able to decrease that medicine and just mainly taking the oxycotin, a form of morphine. I have a child too and I have a time trying to care for him, it is nearly impossible and the pain changes everything in your life and affects your personality when the pain level hits a high point during the day so it can create relationship problems after awhile and then of course no one understands your pain so that is another problem when you feel isolated. Read the posts here on trochanteric bursitis. My pain starts around my illiac area in the upper rear end and runs down on the lateral sides of both of my hips and thighs down to just below my knee, the troch bursa and the illiotibial tract band runs down the leg and if it hurts to the touch it is probably the it band and the bursa, that is what I was told is the difference between sciatica and it band inflammation and troch bursitis which hurts like hell when touched depending on the severity. Just keep fighting with it and try not to give up, well you and I can't because we have more than ourselves to think about with the children in the picture.
