Atypical Migraines

Message 3 of 8 Previous Next

I believe you ARE getting atypical migraines, because I have been getting the same symptoms you described (severe neck pain, etc), for well over 10 years!! My migraines usually end up in behind one of my eyes (feels like a dagger). They last for well over 24 hours if not treated by a prescription medication called Zomig (works great). You may be experiencing a food allergy that occurs as you age. My migraines are triggered by raw onions (too many cooked onions), dark chocalate, spicy foods, and get this - high fructose corn syrup. The last one high fructose corn syrup is in many, many, food items you buy (cheap filler). Coke, and many of your pops contain this substance (many cereals too). I've stayed away from these "trigger" foods (when I can), and my migraines have virtually disappeared. I would suggest getting tested for food allergies and make sure you receive migraine medication to boot. Your doctor should be able to supply you with free samples of different types to see which type helps best. Good Luck and Get Well!!!
