Epstein-Barr Virus

Karen

Message 1 of 2 Next

I am 26 years old and I was recently diagnosed with Epstein-Barr/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and I am having a lot of different symptoms, such as headaches, blurred vision, nausea, loss of memory, confusion, occasional low grade fevers, EXTREME fatigue w/ insomnia (for the longest time I had no problem sleeping, no I have to try to force myself to go to fall asleep), etc. This disease has really confused me. I have told my parents about this and with their reaction I felt as if they thought I was blowing it out of proportion. Their response was, "Well, everybody gets tired". Well for all of you who have this disease you know that it is not the same tired feeling as if you just did not get enough sleep, it is more like your body is about to give up on you. I need some people who have this to talk to. My doctor put me on anti-depressents supposedly to "lift me up" because I am so unbelievably tired. She also told me to take vitamin B-12 drops, and coQenzyme. I was wondering if I need to go see a specialist of some sort because I don't know if my doctor ruled out all possibilities. I know she checked my thyroid, valley fever, and mono and they all came back ok, but what I don't understand is that if I have Epstein-Barr and this virus is found in mono, then why did my mono test come back negative? I also read that Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is not associated with Epstein-Barr. See, I really am at a dead end right now with information. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Karen
