I am 20 years old and i have had problems with dry eyes for one year. I have been to three doctors. The first two continuly told me I had pink eye because my eyes mattered up and swelled shut. I have also been to allergy doctors. they told me allergies maybe part of the problem, but not the major problem. I found a doctor in missisippi. He has been the most helpful. HE explined my case as tear disfunction. My body makes tears but not correctly. When the tears spread across my eye they evaporate in about 5 seconds (normal people 15-20 seconds). I blink alot more than normal. They put temporary colligen plugs in all four ducts. Its been two days no real difference. I've tried one perment silicon plug in my lower tear duct. It did not hurt putting them in or the day after. It did how ever rub on my eye and kill some of the cells. No real harm but I had them take it out because i had heard about the plugs that go inside the tear duct. I am currently waiting for an appointment at the Alabama Eye Instute. I am also going to get my hormoans tested. I thought about trying the hydroeye stuff but i am not sure. I have already been tested for the common disease that cause dry eye. All came back negative. I find it very diffcult to get eye doctors to take this serious. I plan to scream if one more doctor tells me its allergic conjunctivitous or pink eye. If any has any suggestions i am willing to try anything. i want more than to just to cure the symptoms. I would like to cure the problem.
