my 5 year old son just recently had his tonsills and adenoids removed.we tried to explain to him before hand that when he woke up from surgery he would have a real bad sore throat.i asked the doc how bad the sore throat would be and he said it wont hurt as bad the day of the surgery or the day after but in 3 days to a week he will hurt tremendously.he cried all night for nearly 2 weeks and couldnt even drink water without excruciating pain.what your describing is perfectly normal and he will be better in no time just dont give him anything hot to eat or drink and give him tylenol.if he starts to bleed profusely than he may have dislodged the scabs in the back of his throat.if this happens take him to the nearest emergency room near you so they can stop the bleeding. i wish you the best of luck and just be patient.he will be alright.
