If you can, have a cat scan. A sinus infection will not show up on an x-ray.A scan will show whether or not you are dealing with a sinus infection. If you do have a sinus infection, the most effective treatment I know of is LONG-TERM (up to 6 months or even a year) of antibiotics. Other sinus symptoms: aching teeth,esp. the uppers, feeling of pressure in forehead, and periods of time when you breathe through your nose and everything smells like an open sewer. This is the worst. Good luck with your scan. (My 6-year sinus infection was cured when I had massive doses of IV antibiotics following my knee replacement. I don't recommend the surgery as a cure but it sure was nice to come home with both a new knee and clean sinuses!)
