My daughter went through that at 2 years old and her doctor kept telling me she had a severe cold. Well after three weeks, being in the ER twice for "breathing treatments" because she sounded like an elderly man that had been smoking for 50 years, we changed doctors. She ended up having "broncial (spelling) asthma" which meant, every time she got a cold she would get that croupy cough. We got a nebulizer (spelling) for home with the abuterol(medication). She grew out of it but we went through that for about 3 winters in a row. Good Luck.
