My husband has thalassemia and has been told by his Dr. that he would have to get blood transfusions regularly. In 1981 I put him on vitamins with iron and soy protein. In a very short time his color improved and he felt much better. His sister has been telling me to stop the iron, due to an adverse effect. I stopped it about 6 mos.ago and now he is in bad shape. I do know that some iron will not obsorb in the body. He has not recieved any bad reports about any organs. If you know of any treatment please let me know. We don't have the info as to which Thalassemia my husband has. They will have that in a couple of weeks.
