Judy - are you 100% sure IC is your diagnosis? Muscle spasm can also cause the abdomen to distend. I ask because I was dx'd with IC at one point even tho I had absolutely none of the urgency/frequency symptoms. My condition is actually the result of SI joint damage and a 4th degree tear from a traumatic childbirth, but I think my obgyn was afraid to make the connection between my condition and the delivery since he might have thought he would get sued. At Mayo Clinic I was told IC is highly overdiagnosed. If the treatments for IC aren't helping you, consider the possibility that you might have something else...
