REFLEX SYMPATHETIC DYSTROPHY

I was diagnosed with RSD coming up 2years ago. I suffered from an undiagnosed stress fraction just below my knee and walked on it for 6 days in agony. The day after an orthopaedic docctor diagnosed me and I rested, my leg went white and cold. An ultrasound revealed all my arteries below the knee were narrowed and constricted and that I had RSD and to get walking and take hot leg baths etc. I woke every night with pain in the leg and would merge my leg in hot leg baths. I also took herbs (cooked them up as vasodialtors). After about 2 to 3 months (and sever shock from it all) I had another ultrasound which revealed a huge improvement. A year later I found out I have a narrow and thickened artery in the left lower leg but the vascular surgeon claimed the weakness and fatigue in the left leg was not caused by it as it was not enough to cause the symptoms. I have had an MRI and it was clear. I suffer from a very weak and fatigued left leg, but strangely enough it feels as though it is coming from the hip region and back of thigh. Xrys are all clear. I had some buttock and thigh waisting - about 2cm but that was it. I have been going to the gym and I am getting fit, but I still suffer from the same degree of weakness. I even have inlays from a podiatrist and thought they made a huge improvement, but the improvement lasted only a few weeks. Does any of this make sense to you? The only pain I have has since my "recovery" has been last winter when I woke every night with pain in my left buttock hip area. Nothing such as neurofen etc, helped. It only started after lying down and sleeping. Eventually - months later a hip specialist said try asprin. I did and it took the pain away. So it seems like a circulation thing. Is this still RSD? kind regards. Robyn
