Sleep Apnea Treatment

Message 3 of 22 Previous Next

My husband suffers bouts of this (he has MS, so I suppose this is why it is only sporadic). He attended a sleep lab, which you, presumably had to do, and was offered use of the machine or asked if he would like to try a splint which he wears in his mouth at night. It is called a "buster" and keeps the tongue in the right place, I think, by fixing the jaw in one position. It sounds gruesome but he adapted to using it quite quickly (it looks a bit like a gum shield). It certainly seems to work for him. In my husband's case, the device was made by the Dental Hospital, following referral by the hospital he attended for the sleep lab experiment. We live in Scotland, so I do not know the procedure in the US. Anyway, good luck and sweet dreams!
