Externa otitis

The concentration your using sounds like it may be too strong. I was instructed to use 1:1:1 concentration of vinegar, alcohol and water. I imagine what you're using could irritate/burn anyone's ear without infection. Also, she could still have an opening into the middle ear from the tube, which definitely would cause discomfort. When I finally found a specialist(a private out of town consult), who told us to never allow bath soap/water/shampoo/creme rinse to get into my son's ears, the infections stopped. He's never had another one since and this was in 1997. He is 12y/o now. This doctor said the bath soap , etc., was the worst thing for the ears. As far as I'm concerned he was right. I think we proved that. Also, he was adamant about culturing the ears to determine proper antibiotic treatment and to prevent antibiotic resistance. If they don't culture, how do they know what to treat with??? This was something I had fought with our docs over for a long time. Anyway my son's doing great now and I wish you good luck. ps my son had 2 sets of tubes and by the time they were recommeding the 3rd, I said no way. Also, the 1st doc that did the tubes, said it was fine to get water in his ears and that new research indicated that. The next one said maybe but advised against it. Better to do your own research and use your own common sense.
