Off-and-on for a couple of years I have been experiencing pain after urination. For the past 2 weeks it has become more intense. I experience a painful pressure befire urination, no burning during urination. Afterwards I experience extreme lower abdominal pain which spreads to my lower back and can last up to an hour. The pain is getting worse. Urine tests so far have come up negative - except for a microscopic amount of blood. An ultrasound of the kidney and gallbladder came up normal. A Web search suggests interstitial cystitis. Any ideas whether this or anything else is the cause? In the meantime, any suggestions for medications for the pain? - Joy
