Polymyalgia rheumatica

Hi Donna, I am sorry you had such a time of it, before a good doctor was able to treat you. I was very lucky to be referred by my regular doctor to a rheumatologist last December, when my symptoms did not improve with her treatment. She thought I had fibromyalgia at first. Then, in January, my rheumatologist ran numerous tests to confirm what he suspected was PMR. He immediately put me on 20 mg of Prednisone, and, within about a day, I responded very well. That good response was also a diagnostic tool, supporting my doctor's suspicion that I had PMR. RA doesn't improve so dramatically in such a short time, and with such a low dose of Prednisone, from what my doctor said. Thanks for the advice about dropping the Prednisone by very small increments. I will mention that to my doctor, the very next time I talk to him. I have a feeling that you are right. After all, 7.5 mg down to 5 mg, is a big jump. Thank you very much for your post! It's really a comfort to share similar health concerns. I know how difficult this disorder can be. I, too, felt paralyzed with severe PMR symptoms, but for a shorter time than you, and it was terrible! My husband was kind and patient, too, and, of course, very concerned! Please post again, soon! Shar
