My son is 14 going on 15, and is having a scoliosis surgery in 3 weeks. Last May he was diagnosed as having a double curve, each curve almost 48 degrees. He has been wearing a brace since June, for about 23 hours each day. He's tried some physical therapy too. We've seen 3 doctors and educated ourselves on the subject through quite a number of websites before making the decision to have the surgery as recommended by the doctors. Mind you, we're still kind of scared about the upcoming surgery, but we're now convinced it will be the best for our son. I suggest you contact the National Scoliosis Foundation at www.scoliosis.org as they have a lot of information, newsletters, list of doctors, etc. that may be useful to you.
