When my son was about 6 I tried using one of the bedwetting alarms and I have to say it worked great. I told him what was going to happen when he started to wet the bed, that there would be a loud sound and the first night he actually woke himself up before it went off. It took about 2 more nights and he completely stopped wetting the bed. I'm not sure if this suggestion would work for you, but we clipped it to a piece of tissue instead of directly on his underwear. That was it was easy to remove once the alarm did sound (it is pretty loud). Good luck!
