I am sorry to here about your mom, but that is pretty much what an aneurysm is. What happens is the blood vessel weekens; I don't know why, then it is put under some stress and it burst. A friend of mine had an aneurysm also in the brain but luckly enough they where able to save him. All this said is to say he is the only one in his family that had this problem. It may give you a since of peace to go have a cat scan run but I don't think aneurysm's are genetic. Hope this helps. ap
