Dear Mickey, I just read that there is a blood test that can be administered to see if you have herpes. It is possible that you could have gotten it from your boyfriend, but you could have also been infected some time ago (even years ago) from a former partner. This disease is strange. It will lie dormant for some time in the nerve endings and appear months to years later. I would suggest that both of you get tested and see what is going on.
