On 09/25/03 I had a colonoscopy done. The findings read: "normal exam, no polyps, follow up 10 years" On 12/04/03 I went to the E.R. with #4 pain in the area of the r. kidney. A surgeon was called in after viewing CT scan and decided to rx. antibiotics for a week. (? diverticulitis) The pain left for three days. Upon its return it was a # 10 pain. On 12/24/03 I was admitted for surgery for invasive carcinoma of the cecum. A standard r. colectomy requiring total excision was performed. The tumor was the size of a medium peach which had been growing for a year. Anyone know why the colonoscopy didn't see the tumor?
