Laney: 1/25/01 Hi jane, I have never heard of this virus. What specifically is it and what were your initial symptoms? Is it difficult to diagnose? I have had an ongoing nonspecific illness for around five months now. Finally demanded a referral to my rheumatologist. I've been very sick with recurring bouts of flu-like symptoms, severe joint pain (which does seem to be symetrical), severe nasal congestion, hoarseness and loss of voice, extreme fatigue and weakness. PCP said it was viral; felt like I had mono initially. Was set off by 2 different episodes of strep throat. Got very sick both times (had never had strep before).. Would appreciate any info you could share on the virus you have. My sister, who has lupus, I might add, is convinced I have an autoimmune disease. I sure hope not because I can't take prednisone. I've been trying to educate myself lately on different viral illnesses and autoimune diseases. I know that diagnostic testing can be a very lengthy process for some of these. Thanks for your help..
