There was only 1 known case in 1989 but it was not the lethal strain to humans. It was the strain Ebola Reston which was 16km from the center of Washington and this strain was airborne and therefore could be caught by breathing it in but only produced flu like symptoms in humans!! It was brought into the US by a shipment of monkeys from the philipines. I hope that has answered your question!!
