I was diagnosed about a year ago with focal dystonia of the right hand. I have been suffering with this problem for more than 2 years. I have a job that involves a great deal of computer work and my fingers curl in towards my palm when I try to place them on the keyboard. I have consulted a number of doctors and have tried 4 medications, and 2 stellate ganglion blocks (with little or no relief). I am about to try Botox. I have done a lot of reading up on dystonia and treatment and am convinced that this might give me some help. I go for the first injection in 2 weeks. From the reading I've done, the Botox is injected in such a miniscule dose there is little risk. After getting progressively worse for the past 2 1/2 years, I am well ready to try Botox for some improvement. My advice is to be sure you go to a neurologist or movement disorder specialist with specific experience dealing with focal dystonia.
