Jill, Ihave basically the same problem as you, but the disks involved are c3-c7.I go to Johns Hopkins dept. of neurology. I am in severe pain most of the time and I am at risk for parallysis if I do not have surgery. Yes indeed my pain is from the pressure on the spinal cord. I will be having three surgeries at the same time on January 4th 2001. I have complete trust in my surgeons and I would not be considering this surgey if I didn't trust their judgement. I am understandibly rather scared.
