I have TOS on both sides. I had my left side operated on and from the minute I woke up from the anesthesia I had no more symptoms. Having a rib removed is painful but I was home from the hospital after 3 days. I had to have Physical Therapy for 4 weeks to gain back strenght and range of motion in my arm. I was off work 6 weeks but my job at the time involved heavy lifting which I was not able to do. It was worth having the surgery for me. I will be having my right rib removed in the near future and I won't be nearly as scared as the first time around. Good luck to you.
