Dear Sandy I have had PMR for four years now. It took them a year to realize what I had. This is so much like other deseases that they had to go through a lot of eliminations of other things before they realized it was PMR. I hurt like I had a real bad case of the flu and I ran a low degree of fever every afternoon. They immediately put me on prednisone and within two days all the symptons were gone. I am still on a low dose of predisone and they say it will last from three months to five years or longer and that predisone is the only thing that will stop the pain. There are several web sites that will tell you a lot about PMR. Good luck
