Hi! My mother-in-law had TTP 8 years ago, and after 2 weeks of plasmapheresis, was in remission until August, 2000. She is presently in hospital. She had a stroke, blood clot in the lung, and complete renal failure. She had pheresis enough to get her platelets up to 150,000 and had gallbladder surgery (The original reason for hospitalization). Then they discovered she has a 2 nd kind of TTP, and treated her with that 2 days ago. She is now responding to dialysis, apheresis, and will have her heart checked out for possible problems there.
