My son was diagnosed 3 weeks ago. As far as I know, there is no way of determining how long ago you were bitten. In our case, my son didn't even have any skin symptoms. No rash or bull's eye. Around these parts (where we have a high incidence of Lyme's) the general course of doxicycline is 3 weeks. I almost thought that was short as I had heard a friend say that her daughter (several years ago) took antibiotics for a month. However, I think the 3 week time period is because doxicycline is a better form. I would really question the 2 weeks just to be on the safe side (make sure yu are comfortable with the answer you get), and then don't forget to be retested four weeks after you complete your medication. Hope the medication is helping. It did for us, but if you aren't experiencing marked relief, call your doctor. Hope that helps! BaRB
