I know what you are going through right now but the answers to your questions can only be answered by your son. The brain is a very different muscle and we really don't know that much about it. My boyfriend Mark was in an accident at work, he had 3500 pounds fall on him and was in a coma for one month and then in a vegitative state for anouther month. The vegitative state is not really concidered a coma anymore, at least that is what the hospital told us. hANG IN THERE!! I know it is very hard and it will not get easier. Marks accident was just about one year ago and he now is awake but he is no longer the person we all knew! If you would like to talk to someone feel free to write. I also have a board I write to of lots of people who are care givers to BI family members and their support has helped me a great deal. PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO WRITE! I have learned a lot about BI in the last year and maybe I can help.
