last year I had a hemi-colectomy and had my desending colon removed. I had a Dukes A cancer, and was supposedly cured of it. It is my feeling that they naturally focused on the cancer. Two years ago another group of doctors diagonosed me with acute diverticulosis, and no preventative medicine was prescribed by by primary care doctor or the doctor who did the colonoscopy. I now have acute diverticulits and had 2 attacks. If I have another attack, they want to remove my Sigmoid colon. This leaves me with a small piece to use, which would affect my defecating for the rest of my life. I am in a high stress job, I run security, and real estate management. I also have read about laproscopy used for sections of colon removal. I need data on whats going on. My current doctor says just don't eat anyting with seeds, but medical reports are all mixed in that department. I am on a low residue low fiber diet now, and he says eat what you like, or life will be miserable. The dietician says one thing and doctor says another, who are you to believe? I also know you are what you eat. I dont want a third attack, this would requrie a temp stoma, and removal of my sigmoid colon. I would have a small piece of the traverse, Can't I have small sections of the sigmoid removed with laproscopy, and stick on strict diet of fish and chicken with the right foods?Anyone out there with answers???
