Please have your OB/GYN run further test to see if you have POLYCYSTIC OVARIAN SYNDROME. I dealt with the irregular periods for many years and while on the pill my periods were very regulated and when I went off of the pill I was back to square one. I have dealt with irregular periods since I started my menses and through the years I often asked my physcian at the time what is the reason for my irregular menses? Never getting a straight forward answer until at the age of 28 I was sent to a Reproductive Endocrinologist for infertility trouble. I felt that I had been gipped in the since of my really not knowing what was happening to my body and the pill always being the course of treatment. I am now 33yrs old and for the past 5 years I have been under the care of Infertility specialist to try to conceive. I have struggled with my womanlyness (?) why cant I conceive another child. I do have two children and they are the product of taking medications and to my suprise I became pregnant. First pregnancy came when I was dieting with the aide of HCG injections to help loose weight and also burn excess fat. I had only been on the diet for 6 weeks and boom I was pregnant. Later on through infertility treatments I learned that this is a hormone that releases the egg. And my second child was conceived during the process of being treated for Hypothyroidism I was taking Synthroid. After I had my daughter at the age of 28 I took the Depo-Provera shot for birth control and that is where I feel that everything stopped working like it should. It totally shut down my thyroid function from working normally and now I live on an irregular series of hormonal imbalances. Through further investigation while going through Infertility treatment alot relies of your Thyroid and the hormone balances of you body. So before you stay on birth control for to long please try to take your care to a higher level. But if you remain a virgin until you are married some OB/GYN will not treat you for fuure fertility questions, it will be a wait and see process. Good Luck Karyn
