Just recently, I felt the urge to get tested because the man I have been involved with for the past year has been sleeping around and i had begun to feel like it was getting out of handa nd getting tested the right thing to do. Just a few days before I went to get tested, I broke out in an unusual rash around my genital area and anus. It seemed like it could possibly be genital herpes, but I get the distinct feeling that it might be something else. i was wondering if, by any chance, syphilis could be accidentally mistaken for herpes? The treatment the doctor gave me is for herpes but it really does not seem to be working, However, it has only been a few days since I began treatment. The doctors are still waiting for my blood- work to come back, which they said would take up to 7 days. Is this amount of time too much and will it allow whatever in= fection I may have to become worse? And if I have the wrong treatment for whatever it is that I may have, can it cause a more serious reaction?
