Dear Jess,The same thing happened to me.I was in my 4th year of marriage when I had my 1rst outbreak. My husband had it but never went to the doctor because it was such a mild case and his outbreaks were so few that he did not really realize what it was. He never went to the doctor about anything anyway. My doctor told me exactly what your doctor said that there was absolutley no way to know for sure who had it first because it can hide for years with no symtoms. My Husband and I did not divorce and we had a wonderful marriage. He passed away a year and ahalf ago and I miss him alot
