I have had Herpes simplex of the eye for about 4 years now. Shingles is another form of herpes virus.Herpes simplex is fever blister. It is often painful but I have been maintained and doing well with Pred-Forte every 3rd day and acular for the 1st and 2nd day. This is maintaining the virus so that no further damage is done to the cornea. A herpes virus never goes away, the virus will always be in your system but hopefully you can control it with medication as I have done.
